PayPal reintroduces Cryptocurrency Services, delivering seamless and responsible experiences to UK users
  • UK consumers can sign up to buy, sell and hold 7 tokens on PayPal including Bitcoin and Ethereum, the two most popular cryptocurrencies
  • UK users are the first outside the US to have the ability to purchase PayPal USD directly from PayPal

LONDON, 17 November, 2025 - PayPal today announced the reintroduction of cryptocurrency functionality in the UK, allowing eligible consumers to buy, hold, and sell cryptocurrencies directly through PayPal1

PayPal customers in the UK can choose from Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Solana, Chainlink and PayPal USD (PYUSD), a stablecoin2 that is designed to maintain a 1:1 value with the US dollar. By accessing their PayPal account via the mobile app or website, consumers can view real-time crypto prices, explore educational materials, and learn more about how cryptocurrencies work - including the opportunities and risks.
 

Reintroducing Crypto Access Through a Trusted, Familiar Platform

PayPal’s cryptocurrency service in the UK allows users to explore cryptocurrency in an environment they trust and are familiar with, reinforcing the company’s goal to make digital financial tools more accessible, easy to use, and transparent .

Existing consumers can buy, sell, and hold cryptocurrency using their PayPal balance, a linked bank account, or a debit card. 


Building Awareness Through Education 

PayPal continues to provide account holders with educational content to help them understand the cryptocurrency ecosystem, the volatility, risks, and opportunities related to purchasing crypto. PayPal encourages its customers to do their research on the risks and opportunities for various cryptocurrencies before choosing to buy, hold and sell cryptocurrency with PayPal.
