Are you ready for the long, dark nights?
Halloween is closer than you think and, as Game of Thrones fans will tell you, winter is coming.

As the clocks go back, UK shoppers will spend more time on after-dark, online shopping. Already, 1 in 3 of us spends longer on evening ecommerce than 5 years ago. With the darker nights, that will increase by almost 50%– from 1h30m up to 2h12m per week.[1]

Are you ready?
This is not just about scary costumes and pumpkins, although Halloween is now the UK’s second largest party night[2]with annual sales of £0.5 billion.[3]But, beyond ghostly spirits and the souls of the dead, long, dark nights on the sofa mean lots of cosy, warm shopping opportunities for everyone.

Social selling on the sofa
As a seller, where do you start?

The evening is for effortless, social shopping so now is a good time to update (or create) your social media strategy. Our new ebook, How to sell like Christmas all year round, includes some great tips for getting started with social media selling. It has guidance on choosing your channel and building a following. It shows you what worked for others and includes tips from sellers, like Want That Trend founder, Victoria Molyneux:
“One of the biggest hurdles we had was people telling us how to do things. We were told we needed Instagram and Twitter, but if you look at our demographic, Facebook was key. It’s all about lifestyle and posting pictures of babies.”

Keep it clean
When shoppers are snuggled on their sofas with one eye on Bake Off or Peaky Blinders and the other on their smartphone, you need to make it easy. As GadgetPark’s founder James Washington says:
“People shop with their eyes, especially in the evening. They’re not ploughing through the product descriptions every time.”

Clean, crisp product images and simple navigation are critical. Our ebook helps you create an effortless mobile shopping experience.
