Small Business Spotlight: Clementine & Bloom and Salt & Buoy
To mark the launch of the
Makegood Festival which opened today at the Old Selfridges Hotel in London, we are taking a closer look at some of the fantastic textile designers exhibiting at the Festival.
The Makegood Festival is a pop-up market marking the culmination of the latest round of students and young businesses at the
School for Creative Startups, one of our great partners.
At the Festival, many of the students are using our
PayPal Here app and card reader to take mobile payments on their smartphone. This means they can sell their latest designs without having to rely on customers bringing cash to the pop-up event.
Clementine & Bloom is an emerging British brand recognised for its bold and colourful home wares. Their range of lampshades, cushions and wallpaper embrace eclectic geometric designs and traditional printing techniques and offer a fresh alternative to the interiors market. Design duo and mother and daughter, Sandra and Sophie Penford, the creators behind Clementine & Bloom said “PayPal Here is an invaluable tool for any business as it allows you to start selling straight away and it’s trusted internationally”.
At Salt & Buoy, Sarah designs and makes colourful linen cushions and textile homewares. Prison manager by day, Sarah’s designs begin life as hand drawn sketches which are then translated into machine stitched embroideries. As a new business, launching for the first time at Makegood festival, Sarah said: “I am looking forward to using PayPal Here to ensure I can take card payments from all my customers.”
The Makegood Festival continues all weekend at the Old Selfridges Hotel. If you are interested in attending and buying some of these amazing designs, please visit the
Festival website.
