When you need to start accepting payments on your website immediately, adding a payment button is a fast and simple solution. Just log into your PayPal Business account and then follow the step-by-step instructions below. If you don’t have an account, you can open one in a few minutes. Adding a payment button to your website
If you already have a website, you can quickly add buttons for accepting PayPal, as well as credit and debit card payments. You’ll need to create separate buttons for each product you want to sell. You only pay a low transaction fee when your customers pay you.1 View fees.
NOTE: If your website is hosted by an ecommerce platform – like BigCommerce, Magento, Shopify, or others – you may be able to add a new payment button from your site’s administration console and skip the steps below.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Your PayPal Business account username and password
- Access to your website’s HTML code
Step-by-step instructions (total time: ~10 minutes per button)
- Log into your PayPal Business account.
- Navigate to the Set up your PayPal Checkout experience page.
- Create payment buttons for each item you’re selling by following the steps below:
- Currency: Set the currency you’ll use to accept payments.
- Amount: Set the payment amount for the item you’re selling.
- Choose a layout:
- Choosing the Vertical layout will display buttons stacked vertically on your page: a PayPal button; a debit or credit card button where applicable. See the screen shot above.
- Choosing the Horizontal layout will show a PayPal button alongside other buttons, where applicable.
- Color: Choose a color scheme for the buttons.
- Button Text: Choose the text to be shown on the buttons.
- After you make your selections, you can preview how the buttons will look on your desktop and mobile website pages.
- Click the Copy Code button.
- Add the copied code to the page on your website where you want the buttons to appear.
- Repeat the above process for every page where you want to add buttons.
- Finally, test to make sure the buttons work properly by purchasing something from your website and then checking your PayPal Business account for the transaction.
That’s it! You can now accept all types of payments on your website.
