Expanding our COVID-19 relief response for #GivingTuesdayNow

Coronavirus has impacted people, businesses, and nonprofits around the world, from individuals caring for a sick family member, to hospital workers on the front lines, to local small businesses struggling to stay afloat. We’re experiencing unprecedented impacts on every faction of life – the economy, mental health, and physical safety, just to name a few – and we’re living in uncertain times.

With so much hardship, the outpouring of grassroots generosity and giving from around the world has been inspiring. We’re witnessing neighbourhoods come together for weekly clapping for our key workers and windows decorated with rainbows, and entertainers all around the world raising millions while bringing us music and laughter to comfort us from the safety of our home.

The pandemic has demonstrated the need for collaboration and leadership across industries, geographies, and sectors. At PayPal we’ve stepped up to support the needs of our global workforce, leveraged our platform to enable relief for our customers and made contributions to relief efforts on the front lines. We’re also hearing from an unprecedented number of businesses and organisations looking to raise funds in new ways, including Spotify’s Artist Fundraising Pick.

Today, we’re continuing that support for COVID-19 relief by joining organisations around the world to amplify #GivingTuesdayNow on 5th of May, a new global day of giving and unity.

At a time when we are all experiencing the pandemic, generosity is what brings people together across the world. Even as we practice social distancing, we can remain connected through kindness and generosity.

In this spirit of generosity, whether you need help or want to help, we’re announcing new ways to show your support for COVID-19 relief and highlighting additional ways you can join the effort on the 5th of May for #GivingTuesdayNow.
