Our amazing PayPal customers have given Comic Relief and BBC Children in Need’s ‘The Big Night In’ fundraising appeal an enormous boost with PayPal processing over £3 million since the campaign went live on the 23rd April 2020.
PayPal’s UK customers have been donating online through a dedicated PayPal website and through the Big Night In website. ‘The Big Night In’ aired on BBC One, to help the most vulnerable across the UK who have been severely affected by the current coronavirus crisis.
It saw the BBC’s biggest charitable partners, Comic Relief and BBC Children in Need, join forces for the very first time with the live star-studded show on BBC One that raised £27 million on the night and celebrated acts of kindness.
The money raised through the "The Big Night In appeal” will be split between Comic Relief and Children in Need and will go on to support a variety of charities and projects in the UK so they can continue to provide vital emergency support to those affected by the current crisis. This includes making sure people are safe from harm, mentally healthy and with access to food, warmth and shelter; as well as helping people stay connected, active and positive through these extraordinary times.
We are obviously delighted to have supported this campaign as well as provide an easy, fast and simple way for people to donate. We hope that this money will help isolated people to feel less alone, prevent vulnerable families from going hungry – and protect those most at-risk during this crisis.
A big thank you to our customers for being so generous.
