This month, we met with Lash Inc.'s founder and owner, Louise Tierney, to get the low-down on her best business advice and highlights in a minute or less!
PayPal (PP): Hi Lash Inc., thanks for joining us today. In your own words, can you tell us a bit about your business please?
Louise Tierney: Lash Inc. is a beauty trade publication for the eyelash extension industry. We offer a magazine, conference events, various courses, insurance and sample boxes for our customers.
PP: How would you describe your customers?
LT: Our customers are specialists, they specialise and may be slightly obsessed by everything to do with eyelashes!
PP: What’s been your biggest highlight since starting your business?
LT: Running the first Scottish eyelash conference at the beautiful Balmoral hotel in Edinburgh, with speakers and attendees from all over the world, with funding by PayPal Working Capital.
PP: What would you say is the one thing your business couldn’t function without?
LT: Our community. The secret Lash Inc. Facebook group is a community of eyelash professionals which are constantly sending photographs, articles and ideas for the magazine without the community we wouldn't have a magazine or a business.
PP: How has the growth of mobile impacted your business?
LT: Our business is less than 4 years old and was set up with mobile being a focus.
PP: What is your favourite thing about using PayPal?
LT: My favourite thing is how seamless PayPal is from invoicing to receiving and withdrawing money. PayPal makes finances so easy to manage.
PP: If you were to give one piece of advice to other businesses, what would it be?
LT: Relationships are everything. Work with your customers to develop your products and business. Choose partnerships wisely and nurture your relationships for the benefit of all parties.
PP: Finally, if you were stranded on a desert island, what 3 things would you take with you?
LT: A boat, a knife and a hand crank radio.
