Welcome to 60 seconds with... where we interview a great business every month.
This month, we met with Sana Ali Aamir, managing director of bloomon UK, to get the low-down on her best business advice and highlights in a minute or less!
PayPal (PP): In your own words, can you tell us a bit about bloomon please?
Sana Ali Aamir (SAA):
bloomon delivers stunning flowers directly from growers to your doorstep. There is always something so special about receiving flowers and our bouquets are a different design every week so you can really experience new flowers and colours you might not have seen before.
PP: How does bloomon work?
SAA: We work directly with growers. There are no middlemen, lorries, and supermarket stands to hold us back from offering the freshest, most delicate and most seasonal blooms . Our flowers are picked, hand wrapped, and delivered to our customers all within an amazing 36 hours. This means that they are not only the best value for money but last longer than bouquets you might buy down the high street.
PP: How would you describe your customers?
SAA: I often reach out to our customers for feedback and I have quickly realized that our customers are about as unique as our flowers. From farmhouses in Yorkshire to penthouses in London our customers homes and spaces are all transformed by our bouquets.
PP: What’s been your biggest highlight since bloomon started?
SAA: The launch of our new classic bouquet design; it is a modern take on the traditional bouquet. It’s exciting to offer our customers an added level of choice of shape while continuing to offer the same freshness and same surprise.
PP: What would you say is the one thing bloomon could not function without?
SAA: On a practical level our website is very key for our customers . More broadly, I think it’s our team it that really makes bloomon function. Ranging from TV personalities to swimwear enthusiasts to technology nerds, we have so many unique skills and quirky characters.
PP: How has the growth of mobile impacted your business?
SAA: More than 50% of our business is conducted on mobiles or tablets. This, of course, gives our customers the ability make full use of the flexibility our membership offers - especially when they are on the go. More importantly, our customers capture so many beautiful moments through their mobile phones and share on social media.
PP: What is your favourite thing about using PayPal?
SAA: I just love PayPal because how easy it is to use for a fast growing business. It is essential for our sales team to use too especially at events and our flower arranging workshops.
PP: If you were to give one piece of advice to other businesses, what would it be?
SAA: Invest in your team and take the time to really understand your customer.
PP: Finally, if you were stranded on a desert island, what 3 things would you take with you?
SAA: The book ‘A Little Life’, a swiss army knife and box of chocolates (perhaps a bouquet of bloomon flowers to serve as a peace offering to the locals as well!).
PP: Thanks Sana!
