Finding My Story
 
Cedric is part of our award-winning French Telesales team located in Dublin and has been consistently recognised as one of the outstanding performers in his field. Here he takes us through his career story to date.
 
 
Creating the structure…
 
For Cedric, the most important aspect of any job was finding the right culture and environment. With the right culture and support he believed he could build a career that matched his ambitions.
He had always admired the fast-paced, energetic atmosphere that comes with working in sales and started researching into potential roles and companies.
 
“I began to feel the need to spread my wings and develop my career. I was always interested in a career in sales, however, I have a technical background so this wasn't possible at the beginning.”
 
Having already known some people who worked within PayPal he decided to follow their advice and apply for a role as a Customer Service Agent.
 
 
Finding the right material…
 
“I started my career at PayPal as a Claims Customer Service Agent helping resolve customer account issues. Within 6 months I became a top performer in the team. I loved the direct customer interaction and being able to help and support them with their issues.”
 
Working with his manager to achieve his sales career ambition, they worked together to put into action his professional development plan.
 
“My manager agreed that I could be a suitable fit for the Merchant Sales department. Having worked alongside them in some projects, witnessing the energy and dynamism of the environment, I was thrilled at the prospect of progressing further there.
 
“He also suggested a range of external courses I could look at which could help me be successful in this area with an immediate impact. I was delighted to learn that PayPal actually cover the costs through an education allowance for when you want to up skill or further develop your knowledge.”
 
 
Writing the story…
 
Cedric moved to a Lead Generation position within Merchant Sales, eventually progressing again to a role within French Telesales and immediately took to the busy energetic environment.
 
“I loved it from day one. The team and management have an energy which pushes you to go further. It’s an incredibly empowering work environment.
 
“It’s certainly no stroll in the park- every day I am challenged. With each new merchant comes a new business model and new learnings. You have to understand exactly what their business is all about so you can help them get the very best out of PayPal. This means you get priceless insights into a huge array of business types and strategies.
 
For me, however, the most rewarding part about working in French Telesales is the recognition you receive every day from your customers about how your product is empowering their business. It’s a great feeling and makes the hard work worthwhile.”
 
Getting Published…
 
For his efforts Cedric has received a range of performance spot awards and bonuses:
 
“The benefits package provided by PayPal is excellent. From performance bonuses and health insurance to a free onsite gym, we are well looked after. However, our greatest form of recognition came last year:
My team and I were crowned Irish Sales Champions Team of the Year 2015. The French Telesales team is a shining example of what can be achieved when a company takes the time to invest in its people. It is fantastic that our hard work has been recognised on a national stage and we are really determined to grow and achieve more for 2016 and beyond.
 
On top of that, in 2017, after five years of great times and experiences shared with my colleagues, I will enjoy a well deserved paid sabbatical for one month to recharge and unwind.”
