Grow your business internationally with PayPal
One thing businesses of all sizes need is customers. We used to only be able to sell to those around us, but now businesses can connect to customers all over the world at just the click of a mouse.

Whilst selling to customers overseas can seem like a daunting task, it’s definitely worth it. When the UKTI talked to small businesses they found 85% said that export led to a level of growth not otherwise possible. That’s why PayPal has selected partners and offers to help cut the cost of selling abroad, and put together a series of top tips to help you jump start your international sales:

Tip #2. Grow your customer base

The internet has levelled the playing field when it comes to matching buyers and sellers. You no longer need to have a physical presence in another country or have to worry about paying for global travel. Use existing online marketplaces such as eBay to test demand for your products in different markets around the world. That way you can get the word out there and start growing your customer base before you invest in full site localisation.

Drive traffic to your site through investing pay-per-click (PPC) advertising on local search engines. This will drive new visitors to your site and help your business build market presence. The eBay Commerce Network has options for direct response and targeted advertising across a range of premium publishers.

Connecting to customers is only one part of the puzzle when it comes to selling internationally. For more tips and free tools to help your business expand globally check out PayPal’s PassPort. You can find info on there from how to work in different cultures and seasonal sales peaks in other markets to specifics on shipping, currencies and customs paperwork.
