Mixing payments with pleasure
In today’s busy world, convenience is king. Successful businesses need to adapt their services to ensure that from the first moment to the last, everything is tailored to enhance the customer experience. For Shane Cody, founder and manager of Mokoko Cocktail Bar & Grill, that meant ensuring his invoicing process was as smooth as his cocktails.

As St Albans’ first cocktail bar, Mokoko has always enjoyed a steady flow of customers. Following the introduction of table service, bookings became even more popular, with the bar often fully booked weeks in advance. However, the boom in bookings came with the risk that many of them would not turn up, leaving tables unused for the whole evening.

To combat this, Shane introduced a deposit system for all bookings. “Our only option was for customers to come past the bar at some point in the week to pay the deposit in cash,” says Shane. It quickly became clear that this would not work. “I couldn’t expect customers to take time out of their busy days, at a time which was convenient for me.”

Shane turned to PayPal Invoicing. Whenever Mokoko takes a booking, Shane can now quickly raise an online invoice for the value of the deposit. This is then emailed directly to the customer, who is able to pay via the secure link in the email using PayPal.

I drop them an email directly, and the customer is able to pay straight away. It’s secure, fast and easy to use. PayPal Invoicing has made my life much easier and allows the business to run much smoother. I’m no longer sitting around waiting for payments or spending time calling customers,” says Shane. PayPal Invoicing means he can now spend more time inventing new cocktails and less time worrying about booking deposits. Watch Shane’s story in full on YouTube.

PayPal Invoicing can be used by almost any business – allowing business owners to view their invoicing history, track unpaid invoices and stagger their payments. The simple invoice template tool is quick and simple to use, and allows up to 100 invoices to be distributed at a time. It also accepts payments from more than 200 markets in 25 currencies.
