Shoppers at Westfield London, Shepherds Bush, can now use the PayPal app to pay for car parking with their smartphone. It’s the first time people in the UK have been able to pay to park with PayPal’s mobile app.
It’s easy to use. When you are ready to pay, you select Westfield from the ‘Local’ section of the PayPal app, swipe to check-in and a barcode appears. Then you put your car parking ticket in the machine to see what you owe and instead of rummaging through your purse or pockets for the change to pay (or card if you’ve had a long shopping spree!) you scan the barcode at the machine. That’s it.
And what’s really great is that its the same app you can use in over 2,000 UK high street stores and restaurants to shop at Oasis or Warehouse, pay your restaurant bill at your table or order ahead and pay for your takeaway as well as send money or split the bill with friends.
Westfield car parking joins the likes of GBK, wagamama, Prezzo, Carluccio’s, Oasis, Coast, Karen Millen, Warehouse, Thomas Pink and Sole in accepting PayPal mobile payments at Westfield.
To mark the announcement, we have paired up with Westfield to offer free parking on weekdays and all day weekend parking for just £3 (a £6 discount) when visitors pay with the PayPal app up until the 16th July 2014.
How To Guide
1. Download the PayPal app and sign up for a FREE account. (Click here for
iOS and here for
Android) Open the app and select Westfield London Parking from the ‘Local’ section. You’ll see a list of other places nearby where you can pay with PayPal, too.
2. On the £6 voucher, select ‘Save this offer’. This is a really important part of the process: you need proof of the offer to be able to claim it, so make sure you save it using these instructions.
3. The voucher will turn green, which indicates the offer has been applied to your account – all you need to do now is scan your code at the Westfield London Parking machine.
4. Enter your parking ticket and scan the barcode at the parking machine when prompted to pay. You won’t see the discount on the machine, as it will appear as an instant rebate in your PayPal account. See the app’s ‘Activity’ section for details
